Catzmuzik presents - MIKE MONDAY + GOOD NATURED + the old gang again

Catzmuzik presents ...

== "all the old gang - one more time!" ==

Mike Monday (Playtime / Simple / Get Physical)
...Dan Cat +SL1 on keys (Catzmuzik)
Big Daddy (Playtime)

== and upstairs - "more gang!" ==

Good Natured (DJ set)
Jon Blond (Catzmuzik)
Joey Remote (Bleep Test club)
and our trusty residents Rosco and Will Skillz

MIKE MONDAY (PLAYTIME / SIMPLE / GET PHYSICAL) + BIG DADDY (PLAYTIME)
Once upon a time, there was an amazing five-year-rave called Playtime - the club and the label that "smacked you on the arse with the racing post and called you princess!" Raved about by TimeOut, DJ, IDJ, The Guardian and more, it was a regular haunt for Catzmuzik fans - and started its resident Mike Monday in his new career as one of the UK's most radically entertaining electronic musicians. Now, two albums on and with work with Get Physical, Will Saul and Scuba under his belt, Mike Monday is back to play with both Catz - our resident Dan Cat, plus Jon Blond back for one night only - as well as Mike's fellow Playtime resident Big Daddy. The old gang is back, and they are looking to rave.

GOOD NATURED (KIDS / TGN)
But don't think this means we're abandoning our usual upstairs eclectic mix of dub, pop, reggae, disco, funk and classics. Our special guest this month is seriously upcoming popstress Good Natured. Described by the Times as "a compelling new talent" and by Q as "the missing link between musical eccentricity and naivety," she's come a long way since writing her first genius synth-pop songs with a keyboard she rescued as her grandmother was throwing it out. It'll be a DJ set in December - with Good Natured playing alongside our trusty upstairs residents - but expect to hear her new track Be My Animal and Popjustice track of the day Your Body Is A Machine...

CATZMUZIK
Dan and Jon Cat started out in house parties, and now Catzmuzik runs anywhere there's a fat soundsystem and a great crowd. Techno and house with international guests like Marc Romboy (DE) and Abe Duque (US) downstairs and anything goes upstairs. This December will be our Xmas party, our annual reunion rave, and a knees up that Mother Brown couldn't even imagine..."

Catzmuzik returns to Egg with Max Cooper, Kath Harding (WISH), Jeet (Firefly), Get People DJs and more!

With his first home-listening EP, SERIES, just out, Max Cooper is one of the UK's most up-and-coming producers. One of the rare acts to comfortably move between electronica and techno, his remixes and collaborations range from indie superstars like Hot Chip and Au Revoir Simone to German dancefloor techno names like Extrawelt and Dominik Eulberg. We're ranging right across the genres at the next Catzmuzik, with one of Dirtybirty's new signing's ERIC VOLTA upstairs, and the newest singing on Popjustice Records upstairs, BRIGHTLIGHT BRIGHTLIGHT - going back to back with his regular DJing partner David O'Bryan - as seen recently at mental Shoreditch night LOVE MACHINE... Expect everything - but particularly more electronic sounds downstairs and everything from dub to reggae to pop upstairs

ERIC VOLTA (DIRTYBIRD)
With fans including Claude von Stroke, Riva Starr and Jesse Rose, Eric Volta is Dirtybird's hottest new signing. His track Django and forthcoming releases on four:twenty are the product of years of production and DJing under various aliases, including recently headlining Fabric's awesome sunday WetYourself - and now you can check him out at the next Catzmuzik.

BRIGHTLIGHT BRIGHTLIGHT (POPJUSTICE RECS) AND DAVID OH (LOVE MACHINE)
Upstairs, meanwhile, it's pop-o-rama with recent Popjustice and Virgin Records signing Brightlight Brightlight, whose "Ridiculously melodic electronic pop" (The Times) and DJing partner from killer trashy Shoreditch night LOVE MACHINE, David O'Bryan, will be soundtracking a night of anything goes pop, disco, dub, reggae, and eclectic mayhem alongside Anglo Franko and our residents Will Skillz and Rosco.

Catzmuzik presents ABE DUQUE and TOMMY FOUR SEVEN

Did you see last month's photos?

After an entirely, utterly, quite comprehensively rocking Catzmuzik at East Village this month, we're going to Egg next month for one night only with special guests NYC techno don ABE DUQUE and TOMMY FOUR SEVEN, the week before his Berghain debut... both taking Catzmuzik down a deeper, darker techno vibe.

ABE DUQUE
With his new compilation LIVE AND ON ACID almost out, the man XLR8R magazine called the "acid-house/techno don" and who ResidentAdvisor called a "techno pioneer" is bringing underground techno and acid house to the mainstream. With a career that's included a residency in the first early days of the Limelight NYC, becoming one of the first live techno acts to seriously tour, and a period in hiding where he still managed to have a smash underground hit with "What Happened?" despite only releasing his records on oblique, hand-stamped anonymous white label 12"s - let's just say that Abe Duque makes a habit of keeping the fans guessing.

This year, having just decimated Fabric with his live set, he's now releasing his first ever career retrospective. It's a 2CD compilation, LIVE AND ON ACID, that ranges freely back and forth between new, unreleased tracks and old-school classics - each chosen, he says, because they fulfill that acid template of having a looseness and a screw-you kind of mayhem in their production.

This is the third time Abe's played live at Egg - and each time he's left a dancing audience gasping for air and asking "What the fuck was that...?"

Check out this video of Abe and Blake Baxter smashing it at Fabric in July.

TOMMY FOUR SEVEN
And then there's the UK's contribution to the European sound, Tommy Four Seven. Now resident in Berlin - and with his Berghain debut the week after this gig at Egg - Tommy Four Seven got his start in London but he's now truly international, taking his darker, moody sound round the world for CLR Records and releasing on labels from CLR to Wolfskull to Process Recordings to his own label, Shooting Elvis. Now his first artist album is on the way, but in the meantime T47 plans to take an evening in London to show how how truly dark and European music can be...

T47's recent collaboration with Chris Liebling, Bahaus

PLUS SUPPORT FROM OUR RESIDENTS Dan Cat and Big Daddy.

Catzmuzik has a huge surprise for you this time round - one of the UK's most up-and-coming producers, Max Cooper. Fresh from a top 20 on the world's biggest predictor of blog love Hype Machine, he's been labelled one to watch by both DJ and IDJ, headlined Fabric's Sunday night WetYourself - and in July he'll headline one of the Sunday night tents for Lovebox. His remix work, meanwhile, runs from Hot Chip to Au Revoir Simone to an upcoming remix of one of the world's best-loved soundtrack composers - and then back to more dancefloor acts like Extrawelt, Dominik Eulberg, Ricardo Tobar and his upcoming, entirely awesome moody new remix of Ryan Davis.

We can't wait to hear him on East Village's incredible downstairs system.

Then we've also got another massive headliner - and another of the UK's most hotly tipped new producers - in EV's newly revamped, retweaked and resplendent upstairs floor. Louis la Roche will be dashing down to London between appearances at the Oxegen Festival and Creamfields to launch his new single "My Turn".

How good is it? His French-styled, British-played discotastic house is so good - so, so very good - that when Louis put out his first track "Love," most people assumed the name was a fake ID for Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk - and there's a trace of the genius of Cassius in there as well.

But he's real, and he'll be headlining upstairs ably supported by Anglo Franko, ex-residents of Camden's notorious rockspot the Barfly, and lately the promoters of The Bleep Test Club - a night that''s seen DJ sets from Filthy Dukes, Does It Offend You Yeah?, Hadouken, Ou Est le Swimming Pool, and Operator Please - and our tireless dub and reggae resident Will Skillz, fresh back from an insane three acid-house sets at Glastonbury.

And downstairs, as always, will be our tireless residents Dan Cat, Big Daddy and Mark Sun.

Photos up from Catzmuzik Jun!

www.catzmuzik.com - Sat Jun 12 with Matt Walsh (Turbo / BuggedOut!) and Per QX of Gutterslut alongside our handy dandy residents Dan Cat, Big Daddy, Mark Sun, Will Skillz and Roscoe.

Catzmuzik presents MATT WALSH (Turbo / BuggedOut!) and Per QX (Gutterslut)

He's remixed Peaches, Moby and Brodinski. He's such an incredible DJ that Tiga saw him play in Tbar and dragged him off to Montreal - and now he releases on Tiga's label Turbo, regularly plays for London's BuggedOut!, and he even has a sideline in slower, nudisco-ier big-name remixes as half of the duo Clouded Vision ... Catz people, we welcome Matt Walsh.

Upstairs, meanwhile, this time round we'll have Per QX. One of the ringleaders of quite insane Dalston tranny-bothering zuperclub Gutterslut, he'll be leaving the false nose - if you've not seen the Gutterslut posters, it's probably best not to ask - at home this time round and giving us a set of slightly more - well, let's call them more virginal numbers, though we hope to still get some pole dancing thrown in.

And of course alongside these two we've got our usual crowd of residents. Upstairs it's Will Skillz and Rosco playing everything from dub to reggae to disco to classic house upstairs - and downstairs Dan Cat, Big Daddy and Mark Sun running the gamut of deep house to nonchalant techno - no music is too lazy or too groovy for East Village's amazing downstairs system...

Catzmuzik presents GET PISSED April 10 at East Village

Maybe you didn’t think there’s a direct musical line from Curtis Mayfield to Luke Solomon to the Fast Show. But there is.

It’s a French duo called GET PISSED.

They’re regulars at Paris’s legendary and Folie Pigalle, a venue in the red-light district that’s as known for its clientele of tranny prostitutes as it for its completely insane afterparties.

Needless to say, we first found them on the Internet because that’s where that type hangs out. But it’s also where their dancefloor bootlegs of Mr Mayfield, Miles Davis and the Freaks’s classic Washing Machine have been making a funky, soulful racket – and their irreverent attitude has created a select but incredibly loyal following among Parisians sick of thumpingly banging electro.

This will be GET PISSED’s first time playing London.

And to add that little disco touch to the giddiness downstairs, upstairs we’re welcoming special guest Ben Pistor of Dalston superstars DISCO BLOODBATH. Alongside Horse Meat Disco, Bloodbath is the other massively popular night that has straight people dancing to disco and italo again – and Ben will be fresh from playing Snowbombing, the BLOC weekender and getting ready for the Eastern Electrics festival in May…

Every second month it’s a night of non-instructional house, nonchalant techno - and this time round bootlegs, disco, italo, uk funky and dub …

Balt and his amazing dancin' disco shoes.

As part of his 2010 residency at Fabric's amazing sister club matter, Tim Sheridan was asked to define the sound of his label and club night veryverywrongindeed.

Tim's response? "No fish is too weird for our aquarium."

And it's true. With fans from Konrad Black to Tenaglia to Mr C, Sebo K to Karotte to Justin Martin, Tim's DJ sets are legend. And after his back to back finale with Raymundo at the Jaded birthday late last year as well as his matter residency in the bag, we expect this night to be more than slightly jammed.

So keep an eye in the sky for the Catz symbol and get ready to join us at Catzmuzik on Feb 13 for our return to East Village - house and techno downstairs with Tim, Dan Catz, Big Daddy and Mark Sun, and anything goes upstairs in the Saloon, with dub, disco, UK funky and all sorts with Rosco, Will Skillz and Balt and his amazing dancin' disco shoes...

TIM SHERIDAN

From his early days as the founder of KISS in the north, as one of few DJs who has also been on Top of The Pops as part of his band the Dope Smugglaz, as one of the UK's biggest exports to Ibiza, and as the promoter who bought the much-missed bass-heavy club nastydirtysexmusic to Ministry, Tim Sheridan was out-playing and out-weirding London club audiences when most of us were still trying to get in with fake ID. And he's not stopped since then, with his label and club night veryverywrongindeed taking on acts like Mr C, Spektre, Max Cooper, King Roc, dub KULT, Andre Crom, Tim Dazing, and local heroes Richard Seeley of REKIDS and Johnny Arthur - as well as launching one of the few truly live four-piece dance bands now around, the veryverywrongindeed limited love orchestra.

Check out the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRU508VeX1k

DAN CAT

With fans from Luke Solomon to Slam, Dan Cat is a bit of a London institution. As part of London duo the Catz, he played up and down the country. But the artistic differences that split the Catz were a bit more extreme than the average - a near car crash in France that almost took out a writer for DJ magazine, one person drinking for four, fistfights in Ibiza, cross-dressing, and a few hundred too many Sundays spent at London's endless afterparty scene. Thankfully, even after falling so far off the wagon you get run over by the wagon following, you can still come back. Dan Cat vanished for a year, found love (and a lot of odd samples), came back, and is now in the middle of a set of new releases...

Dan Cat in DJ mag - "Weird, warm and wonderful"

Catzmuzik v Made in London Sep 10 East Village

It's a school night party...

Now two years old, DJS MADE IN LONDON has already toured South American with Asad Rizvi and JB, worked on a Matthew Williamson fashion show, and with Texture and Duran Interprised - alongside a crazy history of art and fashion events.

Thursday nights is the new DJS residency at East Village, and this time round they're joined by...

CATZMUZIK. With his new track Winterslow getting raves from Luke Solomon, Idiotproof, the Sub Club and even Berlin FM (!), Dan Cat's music has moved on a long way from the days when the Catz were a duo of "globetrotting hotshots" (DJ mag).

Tonight Dan returns for a repeat performance of his B2B set at the Big Chill with Playtime's Big Daddy (an afterhours radio set complete with a man in a tiger suit dancing the morning away), as well as Raymundo Rodriguez, the genius resident of London afterhours rave Jaded.
